Boy in the Ferns

12 X 23 Oil on wood

The boy is lost among the ferns the way you can so easily be when you’re young. It’s a lacework of fronds, green and memory. That boy is now a man, yet he is still sometimes lost among them. He use to swing a stick against all the stones in the creek, throwing huge wings of water up, yet so tenderly reached out to meet the flower’s petals in the forest of ferns.
