40 X 50 Oil on wood

This is a portrait of my long time friend, Christopher Moyer. He’s a guy who walks all the streets of New York, marking their corners with hilarious & dark stories of his own. I’ve been drawing and painting him since, as he remarked, we were young and beautiful.  At the time there was still a pay phone outside my loft– so that is where I chose to put him, with a bit of old time New York, the car lights rushing, the street lights pulsing and his cigarette, another ember in the urban constellation.
