28 X 42 Oil on metal blackboard

The Sphinx has intrigued me for a long time: the hybrid nature of her, the mythology of a deeply intelligent but wild creature, a visual actualization of our beast/spirit nature, plus fur, feathers and flesh is too wonderful a combination to let linger somewhere else. So there she is striding through golden water carving graffiti in the tall, tall grass. That is a song in of itself. A very good friend said of this painting, “She’s at work.” And so she is.
